Gulfstream Adds Aircell Connectivity Throughout Factory Product Line

ATLANTA, GA [NBAA Annual Meeting & Convention] – October 19, 2010 – Aircell, the world’s leading provider of in-flight connectivity, announces that Gulfstream Aerospace is now offering a comprehensive range of Aircell communications systems throughout the Gulfstream product family.

Today’s announcement makes two new high-speed network services available to Gulfstream customers at the factory. These network services include:

  • Gogo Biz® in-flight Internet. Provides true high-speed Internet service throughout the Continental U.S. Operating over Aircell’s advanced air-to-ground network, Gogo Biz is the only solution in business aviation that provides an internet experience similar to the ground, with equipment small and light enough to fit on virtually any business aircraft. Aircell offers Gogo Biz in two different equipment packages, the ATG 4000 and ATG 5000. Available on the Gulfstream G150, G200, G350, G450, G500 and G550.
  • Aircell’s SwiftBroadband Solution. Provides global e-mail, light Internet and voice services. Operating over the Inmarsat I-4 satellites, SwiftBroadband service is the state of the art in affordable, global connectivity. Aircell’s SwiftBroadband equipment package at Gulfstream is based on the Aviator 300 system, powered by Thrane & Thrane. Available on the Gulfstream G150 and G200.

In addition to the two high-speed connectivity services detailed above, today’s announcement also includes Aircell Axxess®, a complete, network neutral cabin system. Aircell Axxess includes two built-in channels of Iridium satellite service for global voice and narrowband data service. It is also fully compatible with Aircell’s Gogo Biz and/or SwiftBroadband systems, for operators wishing to add high-speed connectivity service. The Aircell Axxess system is now standard or optional equipment on the G200, G350, G450, G500 and G550.

“We’re very pleased to extend our relationship with Gulfstream on this exciting new program,” said John Wade, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Aircell. “In-flight connectivity has become a required service and with a full range of connectivity technologies now available at the factory, customers can select the services that best meet their particular needs,” he concluded.

In most cases, Gulfstream is offering Aircell connectivity systems individually or in combination. Today’s announcement highlights a growing trend for business aircraft operators. With airborne connectivity systems becoming smaller and more affordable, business aircraft operators are increasingly utilizing more than one network service to meet their overall connectivity needs.

Aircell is displaying its complete family of airborne communications systems this week in Booth 3737 at the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) annual meeting and convention in Atlanta, GA.
