WASHINGTON, DC [AEA Annual Convention] – April 24, 2008 – Aircell® announces the availability of a new Cabin Telecommunications Router (CTR) for the company’s popular Aircell Axxess® cabin communications system. Standard Aero has completed the first installation and certification of the new CTR at its Springfield, IL, facility on a Dassault Falcon 20 business jet operated by a Texas-based customer.
The new CTR provides Aircell Axxess customers robust 802.11b/g Wi-Fi coverage in the cabin while adhering to the FAA’s most recent guidelines for power output, simplifying the field certification process for installations.
“Our passengers will enjoy having a Wi-Fi connection in the aircraft – initially to provide service for cordless handsets, and later to support personal laptops and PDAs after we install one of Aircell’s high-speed data systems in the future,” said Jim Sparks, Director of Maintenance for the customer’s aircraft.
