SEATTLE, WA [WAEA Conference] - September 21, 2004 - Island Air has selected Aircell's ST 3100 Satcom system to provide operational voice communication services aboard its fleet of de Havilland Dash 8 aircraft. After certification of the first aircraft installation, the company plans to equip the balance of its fleet, which currently stands at 15 aircraft.
The Aircell ST 3100 Satcom system is an advanced, lightweight satellite telecommunications system that provides worldwide, all-altitude voice and data communication through the Iridium satellite network.
The Aircell systems will be used by Island Air to provide an effective, low-cost communication link between the company’s dispatch center and flight crews while airborne and at outlying stations on the ground. The installations will incorporate Aircell handsets in the cockpit.
